Allison Bar and Plate Transmission Cooler

Excessive heat is the number one contributor to transmission failures and can cause clutch pack slipping, clunky shifting, fluid breakdown, etc. Constant overheating can reduce the transmission service life by 50% or more. The PPE Allison bar and plate transmission cooler provides the proper cooling that your transmission needs to stay healthier and longer.

The PPE all-aluminum transmission cooler features a massive 262 cubic-inch core – that’s 3.8 times larger than the stock cooler. The 2.7x larger frontal area increases its airflow exposure, enhancing heat dissipation. Its dense, louvered external fins maximize heat transfer to ambient air, helping achieve a temperature drop of up to 45°F to keep your transmission within the optimal temperature range – even under demanding conditions.

The PPE cooler’s bar and plate construction is a heavy-duty upgrade over the factory stacked plate design, delivering significantly greater cooling mass and flow capacity for true performance gains. Its all-aluminum build also offers superior pressure resistance and durability, making it ideal for performance applications.

Excellent product

Installed cooler in an 05 Duramax. Typically pulling my 10K pound trailer up long slow winding grades my trans temp would get up to around 220 degrees on a 90 degree day and consistently ran at 200 degrees on flat ground. After installing the PPE cooler (Which was super easy, bolted right up no problem) and taking the same route with the same trailer, trans temps stayed at 150 degrees, crept up to 170 degrees pulling the long steep grades at 40mph. Huge improvement! My engine temps also ran cooler due to the lower trans cooler temps. One thing to note is I also installed a Kodiak fan clutch at the same time, so I believe the combination of the two upgrades worked well together. Highly recommend the PPE cooler, worth the cost for sure!

Much Cooler

I haven't pulled anything yet but just running around town and county cruising it's approximately 30° cooler. From 192 down to 160ish. Takes about 15 minutes to install. Did it cold and lost zero fluid also.

Good fit but not all plug and play

It replaces the factory cooler and mounting brace. Thats not an issue other than where does the sensor thats mounted to the factory cross brace go now. Also I have a factory power steering cooler from a gas 2500HD truck that now will not fit as this cooler hits that factor bolt location.
