GM 6L90 Cast Aluminum Transmission Pan, Heavy-Duty
Excessive heat kills transmission life. As temperature rises, transmission fluid viscosity decreases, weakening the lubricating film that protects gears and bearings. This could cause premature wear and potential failure.
Cast from high-grade A356.0-T6 aluminum alloy, the PPE transmission pan offers 1.5 quarts of additional fluid capacity, ensuring long-lasting heat management and performance.
The deep external cooling fins maximize the heat-wicking surface area, effectively dissipating heat to keep your transmission cool under pressure. These fins also add strength to the bottom of the pan and enhance impact resistance.
The built-in baffles at the bottom of the pan increase contact between the fluid and the cast-aluminum surfaces, enhancing heat transfer. These baffles also reduce fluid sloshing, ensuring consistent fluid pickup and stable transmission performance. Together with the longitudinal external fins, they form a stiff, cross-bracing structure, distributing loads better and increasing impact resistance.
The drain plug is equipped with a powerful, high-temperature-rated neodymium magnet that captures ferrous metal particles, providing additional protection for your transmission. The built-in filter supports ensure proper filter placement. The fluid level check port ensures proper fluid level during each filling process. Installation hardware, rubber gasket and transmission filter are included.

Very impressed overall, outstanding quality and fit, excellent instructions included all needed hardware plus filter and gasket. Would absolutely recommend.

I finally got a chance to install my pan today. The pan is extremely well made. The filter that comes with it looks exactly like a genuine AC Delco filter that I had on hand already, enough so that I’m pretty sure they come out of the same factory.
I had plenty of room to get the original GM bolts out of my OEM pan and maneuver it around the exhaust. The problem I ran into was with the allen bolts that come with the new pan. Getting my 4mm 3/8 drive allen socket into a position for 3 of the 18 bolts when attached to the torque wrench to snug the bolts down to 9ft pounds was pretty much impossible with the exhaust crossover. If I had a 1/4 drive socket and torque wrench it probably wouldn’t be an issue, I could have used a u-joint adapter, or I could have just guessed at the torque using a standard ratchet because 9 pounds isn't very much. I’m not a fan of using U-joints when torquing anything and I wanted to make sure I did this right the first time.
What I ended up doing was getting 18 stainless steel non serrated flange head M6x20mm bolts. The flange head eliminates the need for a washer and using non-serrated meant they wouldn’t chew up the aluminum.
