Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve

Add another measure of protection and increase fluid flow to the transmission cooler. Increase cooling capacity with this easy-to-install billet aluminum PPE Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve for the GM 8L90 8-speed transmission.

The OEM part has restrictive internal passages. When the OEM valve fails in the closed position, transmission fluid doesn’t reach your cooler. This can be caused by mechanical failure or debris. The result of stock valve failure can cause the transmission to dangerously overheat. Without properly cooled transmission fluid, the demands of towing and rigorous stop-and-go driving conditions shorten the life of transmission components. The PPE Bypass Valve eliminates the extremely restrictive mechanical factory valve, maximizing fluid flow to and from the transmission cooler.

For further protection, a Neodymium magnet-equipped service plug with an O-ring seal has been added. The removable plug traps ferrous debris and can be accessed to remove particles from the system. The factory bypass valve does not have this feature.

Perfect product and easy install

My 2017 Silverado z71 was noticed to be running warm in the 180s even on casual evening grocery runs. Swapped this out in the driveway while dinner was cooking and took it out for a night cruise later on. Stayed around 135-138 with a casual 1 hour drive averaging 45 mph and alot of stop and go. Got up to 145 ish after some red light pulls but never went higher.
Can’t say enough about PPE for designing this solution to the Gm failure.

I wish I did this sooner

my first 6L80 trans failed at 64,000 miles with light use, the dealer gave me a new one, I lost confidence in this GM transmission, I installed your thermal bypass valve and it now runs up to 50 degrees cooler, thanks.

Great quality, easy to install

Really nice part. Good quality, no issues so far. Does what it says and keeps my trans temp down around 160 even in Texas heat.

Transmission in my 2016 silverado burned up and had to replace it and even the new one I noticed temps around 200° so after seeing recommendations for this bypass I tried it out, on a 90 degree day im seeing Temps around 180 so definitely helped will probably upgrade the cooler itself as well

Much cooler temps

I’m in Houston Texas, couple trips to the coast I was seeing temps of 215 in my 2019 silverado 1500 with the 8L90. After install, on very hot days the hottest temps I’ve seen in traffic are around 174. But not uncommon to cruise out to San Antonio and see 145-150 degrees the whole way out.
