Duramax Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve
Add another measure of protection and increase fluid flow with the easy-to-install billet aluminum PPE Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve for the GM L5P Duramax Diesel.
The OEM part has restrictive internal passages. When the OEM valve fails in the closed position, transmission fluid doesn’t reach your cooler. This can be caused by mechanical failure or debris. The result of stock valve failure can cause the transmission to dangerously overheat. Without properly cooled transmission fluid, the demands of towing and rigorous stop-and-go driving conditions shorten the life of transmission components. The PPE Bypass Valve eliminates the mechanical valve which maximizes fluid flow from the transmission cooler.
For further protection, a Neodymium magnet equipped service plug has been added. The removable plug traps ferrous debris and can be accessed to remove particles from the system. The factory part does not have this feature.

Works as described. Temperature of fluid stays below 160 degrees. Just what the doctor ordered

Installed this product at the same time I installed the PPE transmission pan. I love being able to check my transmission fluid without waiting for the thermostat to open. Even better yet I drop 60° on my trans temp. I highly recommend this product.

I dropped about 40 degrees in transmission temperature after installing this piece. Very happy with the results.

Absolutely does what it says. Lowered my trans temp from an average of 170-180 to 110-120 here in the dead of winter. Should work great in the summer months when towing my camper. Now the negative. After a 750 mile round trip journey with the new lower temps I lost 2-3mpg cruising at interstate speeds. I’m sure this won’t be an issue in the summer. Just felt it should be noted for people in colder climates.
