Add another measure of protection and increase fluid flow with the easy-to-install billet aluminum PPE Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve for the GM L5P Duramax Diesel.

The OEM part has restrictive internal passages. When the OEM valve fails in the closed position, transmission fluid doesn’t reach your cooler. This can be caused by mechanical failure or debris. The result of stock valve failure can cause the transmission to dangerously overheat. Without properly cooled transmission fluid, the demands of towing and rigorous stop-and-go driving conditions shorten the life of transmission components. The PPE Bypass Valve eliminates the mechanical valve which maximizes fluid flow from the transmission cooler.

For further protection, a Neodymium magnet equipped service plug has been added. The removable plug traps ferrous debris and can be accessed to remove particles from the system. The factory part does not have this feature.

Worth every penny !

Installation on my 2018 Chevy 8L90 was breeze and my transmission is running nice and cool in this Florida weather . I did replace the old gasket seal with a new one . It would be nice to see one (gasket) come with this TBV as a kit to make it that much more complete but overall I am highly satisfied with this product.
Note to the DIY’ers: Be sure to keep up with the small o-ring seals on your trans lines when removing the stock valve . One of mine stayed in the old block hole and I almost missed it.

The thermal bypass paired with the deeper pan, towed 9k from Sacramento to Coos Bay Oregon. I don’t think my transmission ever reached 160. Very very pleased with my purchase from PPE. Cooled my transmission down greatly. And with their upgraded spin on filter, truck is shifting like butter!

DON'T FOR GET TO TIGHTEN THE PLUG

HAVEN'T SEEN A DRAMTIC DIP IN TEMPERATURES AND I WAS A DUMMY AND DIDN'T CHECK THE PLUG BEFORE A TEST DRIVE AND LOST NEARLY A GALLON OF FLUID. OOPS MY BAD BUT AT LEAST THE BOTTOM OF MY SUBURBAN WON'T RUST FOR A WHILE

Perfect product and easy install

My 2017 Silverado z71 was noticed to be running warm in the 180s even on casual evening grocery runs. Swapped this out in the driveway while dinner was cooking and took it out for a night cruise later on. Stayed around 135-138 with a casual 1 hour drive averaging 45 mph and alot of stop and go. Got up to 145 ish after some red light pulls but never went higher.
Can’t say enough about PPE for designing this solution to the Gm failure.

I wish I did this sooner

my first 6L80 trans failed at 64,000 miles with light use, the dealer gave me a new one, I lost confidence in this GM transmission, I installed your thermal bypass valve and it now runs up to 50 degrees cooler, thanks.
