Transmission Bar and Plate Transmission Cooler for 2001-2003 GM 6.6L Duramax w/ Allison 

Excessive heat prematurely damages the transmission. PPE Performance Bar and Plate Transmission Cooler give you the Proper cooling of your transmission fluid that you need to extend your transmission lifespan.

Bar and plate style cooler is far superior to the OEM-style tube and fin cooler in terms of cooling performance. Within each repeating section, the internal staggered square-pattern fins divert the high-temperature transmission fluid and increase the heat-transferring surface area. The external louvered fins maximize the cooling effect of ambient air.

When the mainline pressure is increased with upgrades such as a high-performance transmission kit, your transmission generates additional heat. A PPE Performance Transmission Cooler is critical in such situations.

PPE bar & plate trans cooler

First thoughts when I the cooler showed up I was surprized how heavy the box was I used other trans cooler before and they where very light weight.
The Cooler seams very well made everything fell into to place all the mounting holes fit perfect.
It took 30 minutes from start to finish to get it installed no leaks.
So far it seems great it right now it is winter time and I willn't find out until summer time how cool will keep my trans but it looks like it will do the job very well.

High quality, works Great, easy install.

You definitely get what you pay for! I really debated spending the $ on this vs buying a big universal cooler. This is one nice piece, u can definitely see why it cost what it does, and it’s worth it. I installed this on my 2001 Crewcab Chevy 8.1L/Allison powered Ramptruck car-hauler.
This made a big improvement in trans temps, 20°-40° degrees lower than it was before on the same trip to the mountains pulling the same load. It never got over 200° and it only got to that once on a steep grade. On the trip we took to Florida and back (flat ground) rainy and cooler outside temps it never broke 150°-160° degree trans temps. I had slight concerns over it blocking radiator air flow but the cooler trans fluid actually brought my engine temps down about 10° as well.

Installation was super easy as well, only took about half an hour. I did have to remove the center grille mount plastic clip bracket, but it unbolts and I moved one other bolt so that the cooler wouldn’t rub anything.

Overall, I very happy with my purchase! I ordered through Summit because it saved a little $ and I got free shipping, but even called PPE directly before ordering to ask some fitment questions. I ordered this and the PPE external spin-on trans fluid filter and installed them both at the same time.

If you’re debating, spend the $ it is worth it; you won’t regret it. Even the packaging on this was nice and it was well protected. It’s plug and play 2 quick-connect fittings and bolts right in.
