Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve
Add another measure of protection and increase fluid flow to the transmission cooler. Increase cooling capacity with this easy-to-install billet aluminum PPE Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve for the GM 8L90 8-speed transmission.
The OEM part has restrictive internal passages. When the OEM valve fails in the closed position, transmission fluid doesn’t reach your cooler. This can be caused by mechanical failure or debris. The result of stock valve failure can cause the transmission to dangerously overheat. Without properly cooled transmission fluid, the demands of towing and rigorous stop-and-go driving conditions shorten the life of transmission components. The PPE Bypass Valve eliminates the extremely restrictive mechanical factory valve, maximizing fluid flow to and from the transmission cooler.
For further protection, a Neodymium magnet-equipped service plug with an O-ring seal has been added. The removable plug traps ferrous debris and can be accessed to remove particles from the system. The factory bypass valve does not have this feature.

Hey everyone, I don't typically write reviews but I couldn't let this one slip by. Just installed the Pacific Performance transmission T-stat bypass on my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ with the L86 6.2L engine and 8L90 eight speed transmission. Went on an hour-long highway drive, in 70 degree weather and 50% humidity, and got sustained temperatures of 131 degrees at 65 MPH and 129 degrees at a cruise control speed of 57 MPH. This by-pass easily dropped my transmission temperatures by close to 40 to 50 degrees. Granted the outdoor temperature helped some but I usually see 180 to 190 degree transmission temperatures once everything warms up during the summer. Wish I had installed this sooner. Best Regards!

I bought this because my 2018 GMC Sierra with 8L90 transmission kept overheating and left me stranded. Come to find out the OEM bypass valve was clogged with debris and never really kept the transmission cool to begin with. When I was towing I used to see temps around 220. Now towing I never get above 190. Definitely recommend!

So far is proving to be a damn good product went from 192° temps down to 149° sitting at idle. Definitely recommend.

The part is made extremely nice. Fits perfect. Trans was running 190-195, now it runs 160-162. Highly recommend to prolong the life of the grenade known as the 6L80.
